Commit to spending one hour this week with an elderly person in your community. Plan an activity together and reflect on what you both learned from the experience.

I can use my musical talent to bring joy and comfort to the elderly by performing at nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and community centers. Music has a powerful effect on memory and emotions, making it especially beneficial for seniors, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's. By playing familiar gospel, jazz, or old Caribbean songs, I can help evoke cherished memories, reduce feelings of loneliness, and create a soothing atmosphere. I can also organize interactive music sessions where seniors can sing along or share their favorite songs, fostering a sense of connection and engagement. Through volunteering my time and talent, I can uplift their spirits, create meaningful moments, and positively impact their well-being through the healing power of music.
